Mr. Knott is Chairman of Pinpoint Properties, LLC, a commercial real estate development firm originally founded in 2000 as JLA Enterprises, LLC. The company is located in Durham, North Carolina and serves the Research Triangle Park and surrounding areas.
Mr. Knott graduated from Duke University in December 1988 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He held various management positions at IBM, in RTP, including North American Materials Operations Manager and was responsible for procurement of $2 billion dollars of components to support IBM’s Personal Computer manufacturing. Mr. Knott also directly managed the RTP Personal Computer manufacturing, which produced of 30% of IBM’s global PC. The manufacturing group consisted of 50 managers, 85 indirect support (engineering, logistics and distribution) and 1,400 direct employees. He also provided operational management to production facilities in Guadalajara, Mexico and Toronto, Canada.
Mr. Knott also received his MBA from Duke University in 1999, which led to the formation of JLA Enterprises, LLC. Mr. Knott left IBM to pursue commercial real estate development opportunities with family-owned property on Highway 55, near Research Triangle Park, NC. He has successfully completed the Kitt Creek Office Park, which consists of 33,000 sf of office condominiums in phase one with an additional 27,000 sf planned for the second phase.
Outside of JLA Enterprises, Mr. Knott is actively engaged with Lowe’s Grove Baptist Church and participates on several committees – including Finance (Chairman), Long-Range Planning (Chairman), Office and is a past vice-chairman of the Board of Deacons. Mr. Knott is also actively involved in the Parkwood Athletic Association, and has a number of years of head coaching experience in Tee-Ball, Baseball and Soccer. Mr. Knott serves as the President of Save Historic Lowe’s Grove, a non-profit group working to save the hundred year old Lowe’s Grove Elementary School for adaptive reuse.
Mr. Knott lives in Durham with his wife, Lisa, and three children, Jordan, Lauren and Alex.
Joni Barnes joined the team at Pinpoint Properties as the Sales and Marketing Manager in February 2004. After a diverse professional career in the financial services sector, she entered the commercial real estate field in 2002 as an Acquisition Analyst with the Dilweg Companies. Currently her responsibilities with Pinpoint Properties involve sales and leasing with an emphasis on office condominium space, general brokerage and tenant representation.
Joni is an officer of the TCAR (Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors) Board of Directors and is Past Chairperson of the Networking Committee which helps Habitat for Humanity, Hilltop Home, Walk for Hope and various other causes.
Outside of Pinpoint Properties, Ms. Barnes is an active member of Sunrise United Methodist Church and participates in fundraising activities including the Pretty in Pink Foundation and Race for the Cure.
Joni received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from The University of Akron, Ohio and is a licensed Real Estate Broker in North Carolina. She currently resides in Holly Springs with her husband, Andrew, and daughters, Finley and Elliot.
